To answer your question, when you updated your profile, if you set your settings to notify your network, then the message is out there. I don’t think you need a separate announcement. However, you could start contacting people in your network, asking them if they’d be interested in a re-connecting/touching-base phone call and tell them a little more of the story in person. They will feel more special and you will make a stronger impression.
